Three Ways to Boost Sales With Your Website

Written by Sara Fisher on August 14, 2018

Is your website effectively marketing your business and boosting sales? Read on for simple tips you can use to set your website up for the future success and growth of your business.

 Condense your content.

In order to better engage your current and potential customers, it's very important to carefully select the text and content for your website. If you've already got a website, this possibly means cutting out large amounts of unnecessary content—and most importantly, on the homepage of your website. Website visitors need to be able to quickly and easily find out what items or services you're selling, why they need them, and how to get them, all within a matter of seconds. If your website is overloading the customer with information that doesn't relate to the aforementioned topics, you run the risk of losing their attention (and more importantly, their business).

You can always link to more detailed pages from other locations on your site so visitors can still find the content you're looking for, but make sure the homepage of your site is condensed, and simplified so they can more quickly and easily buy your goods and services.

 Focus on your customers.

Focus on your customers and how you can help them through your choice of text and imagery on your website. You'll want to give your customers information that shows you truly understand them and their needs, which in turn will help build a trusting relationship between you and your customer. When customers feel understood and confident that your goods and services can help them, they'll be more likely to make a purchase.

Make a conscious effort to really get to know your customers so you can tailor the content of your website specifically to them. Customers always like to feel understood and appreciated.

Make it easy for customers to do business with you.

Whether you need your customers to schedule a consultation, buy a product, or make an appointment, make sure your website clearly communicates the Call-to-Action (CTA) you want your customers to make. The most effective and simple approach is to place your CTA on a button on your website, and repeat the button in multiple areas on your site. It should be on a contrasting color that stands out from the rest of the website.

Once they click the button, the process should be easy for them to follow. If they have to jump through multiple hoops to finally complete the action, they may get frustrated and bail on following through with the desired action you want them to take.

In order to set your business up for growth, your website needs to take a proactive approach. It takes a little bit of work up front, and the content of your website will need to be updated and adapted over time to accommodate the ever-changing market. If updating your website seems overwhelming, take it one step at a time and have peace of mind that your business is headed towards growth each time.
